《語(yǔ)言與文體（下）(中文導(dǎo)讀注釋版)》有兩個(gè)目的，一是展示文體學(xué)的新發(fā)展并示范如何進(jìn)行文體學(xué)分析，二是向國(guó)際著名文體學(xué)家Mick Short表示敬意，感謝他長(zhǎng)期以來(lái)為文體學(xué)的發(fā)展所做出的卓越貢獻(xiàn)。Mick Short是英國(guó)蘭卡斯特大學(xué)教授，他創(chuàng)辦了國(guó)際文體學(xué)協(xié)會(huì)（Poetics and Linguistics Association，縮寫(xiě)為PALA，1979--）和該協(xié)會(huì)的會(huì)刊（Language and Literature, 1992--）；他著述甚豐，與Geoffrey Leech合著的《小說(shuō)文體論》（Longman, 1981）2005年被PALA評(píng)為"1980年以來(lái)文體學(xué)領(lǐng)域最有影響的著作"；他2000年還獲得了英國(guó)的國(guó)家教學(xué)獎(jiǎng)。Short教授曾多次訪問(wèn)中國(guó)，在中國(guó)教學(xué)（北京外國(guó)語(yǔ)大學(xué)，1983--1984）、作講座和大會(huì)主題發(fā)言，幫助推進(jìn)中國(guó)的語(yǔ)言學(xué)和文體學(xué)發(fā)展。
