本教材在編寫過程中，一反保守的遞進(jìn)式教學(xué)特點(diǎn)，采用了項(xiàng)目制的編寫原則。按照外貿(mào)函電信件的類型，把整本教材分成了10個項(xiàng)目，每個項(xiàng)目又按照要求設(shè)置了幾個模擬任務(wù)，以項(xiàng)目為導(dǎo)入，實(shí)行任務(wù)驅(qū)動的教學(xué)原則。讓學(xué)生通過一個個項(xiàng)目的完成，不僅掌握了各種外貿(mào)信件的寫作技能和特點(diǎn)，也系統(tǒng)地了解了整個外貿(mào)流程。
在每個項(xiàng)目的進(jìn)行過程中，都按照需要穿插了大量的實(shí)例來幫助學(xué)生更好地了解信件的類型和實(shí)用情境。同時，在實(shí)例的選擇上，編者針對市場上同類教材大多內(nèi)容陳舊、材料生僻的特點(diǎn)，精選了一大批富有時代特色、大家很熟悉的例子來輔助學(xué)生理解。
