在客觀再現(xiàn)中西方學(xué)者有關(guān)中西方文化差異研究成果的基礎(chǔ)上,本教材具體內(nèi)容以近年來的大量跨文化交流案例為橫線,以下述五個(gè)部分的內(nèi)容為縱線,全面而審慎地展開:中西文化對比的意義;
無聲語言與文化差異;思維與文化差異;價(jià)值觀與文化差異;文化本位差異。
視野較寬:21世紀(jì)的英語教學(xué)不應(yīng)僅局限于語言層面,應(yīng)該把視野擴(kuò)大到文化層面,因此本教材還強(qiáng)調(diào)文化差異意識及敏感性的培養(yǎng)。
涉及面廣:本教材綜合了英漢語言學(xué)、翻譯學(xué)、文化學(xué)、文化交流學(xué)、人類學(xué)、史學(xué)等學(xué)科知識,比同類教材更重視學(xué)生對所學(xué)知識的綜合運(yùn)用。
時(shí)代感強(qiáng):今日學(xué)生的文化交流能力,特別是文化視野更為寬闊,因此本教材案例力求時(shí)代感強(qiáng)。
本書由"東方與西方""不同的無聲語言""不同的思維方式""不同的文化取向""不同的文化本位"五大部分組成,每部分由不同章節(jié)構(gòu)成,共20章,有針對性地對沖突、碰撞、趨同語境下的中西文化進(jìn)行對比研究,總結(jié)其差異,挖掘差異背后的影響因素。另外,中國文化長期以來廣納百川,西方文化兼收并蓄,以靜態(tài)的文字對動態(tài)的中西文化進(jìn)行比較難度很大,有鑒于此,本書聚焦中西文化中傳統(tǒng)而穩(wěn)定的部分,通過案例進(jìn)行比較,以助讀者了解中西文化的異同并能用新的眼光審視自己的文化。
