在具體的研究過(guò)程中，張瑋采用了首先進(jìn)行理論建構(gòu)，然后進(jìn)行分層論證的方式�！峨[喻的謀篇機(jī)制研究》在研究前人的理論模式的基礎(chǔ)上，通過(guò)改造和補(bǔ)充、完善構(gòu)建出一個(gè)多層次研究隱喻的理論框架，包括詞匯語(yǔ)法層、語(yǔ)義層、語(yǔ)用層和認(rèn)知層，隱喻在不同的層面上發(fā)揮不同的作用，即在認(rèn)知層面上對(duì)隱喻進(jìn)行投射和融合，在語(yǔ)用層面對(duì)隱喻進(jìn)行識(shí)別和協(xié)商，在語(yǔ)義層面對(duì)隱喻進(jìn)行構(gòu)建和聯(lián)系，最終由詞匯語(yǔ)法來(lái)體現(xiàn)。通過(guò)對(duì)不同層面上隱喻的表現(xiàn)來(lái)解釋和評(píng)價(jià)語(yǔ)篇的連貫。在其后的三章中，張瑋分別探討了隱喻在語(yǔ)義、語(yǔ)用和認(rèn)知三個(gè)層面上對(duì)語(yǔ)篇連貫所作的貢獻(xiàn)。
